Rara Lake is a glacier lake that is found in the Mugu district of the Karnali region of western Nepal. The centerpiece of Rara National Park, this lake is the largest freshwater lake in Nepal. It has a surface size of 10.8 square kilometers (4.2 square miles), and is situated at 2,990 meters (9,810 feet) above sea level. The lake has a maximum depth of 167 meters (548 feet). Encircled by forests and mountains, Rara Lake has Nilgiri Himal, Churen Himal, and Himchuli Himal nearby. Rhododendrons, junipers, and deer are just a few of the plants and animals that may be found in the forests around the lake. The lake is a well-liked location for boating, hiking, and camping. Additionally, there are numerous lodges and hotels close to the lake. The spring months of April and May and the fall months of September and October are the ideal times to explore Rara Lake. During these months, the weather is beautiful and there are fewer tourists. You must take an aircraft to Jumla Airport if you're traveling by air. If you're traveling by vehicle, you must drive to Jumla. Then, take a taxi or a vehicle from Jumla to the park's administrative building.
You will be greeted by our representative at the airport and transferred to the hotel. After you are settled, you will go on a guided sightseeing tour of some of the UNESCO World Heritage sites in Kathmandu, including the historic Durbar Square, and Swayambhunath Stupa. In the afternoon, you will meet your trekking guide and check your trekking gear. Guide will brief you about the trip during the dinner.
Sightseeing around Kathmandu at Patan Durbar Square which is rich in ancient art and archeology. Ancient sculptures, wood carvings, pagoda style temples and other structures which were built during the Malla period in the 1600s can be found in Patan Durbar Square. Royal palace where Malla kings resided is the major attraction and Krishna Mandir, Bhimsen Temple, Vishwanath Temple as well as Taleju Bhawani Temple are in the vicinity of the Durbar Square. It is a center of both Hinduism and Buddhism,with 136 "bahals" (courtyards) and 55 major temples. Lunch in Patan.
Now, we will take you to one of the oldest and largest Hindu temples which is also listed in UNESCO world heritage site ‘Pashupatinath Temple’. The time of its establishment is still being known to the world but the current form of the temple was constructed in 1692 CE. It is a collection of temples, ashrams, images and inscriptions which takes you centuries back from the current technological world. You can see Bagmati River on the banks of which cremation ritual is performed. Welcome party dinner at a hotel in Kathmandu.
Kathmandu - Nepalgunj
After having breakfast, we will transfer you to the domestic terminal at TIA to catch a flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj. It takes only 45 minutes to reach Nepalgunj. Then, you will check-in at the hotel and have lunch. Numerous communities are found in Nepalgunj, including Muslims, Madhesi Hindus, and native Nepalis. Local cuisines such as samosas, chaat, golgappas, dahibada, momos, sekuwa, and biryani are really famous here and if you crave for local dishes, do try them.
Nepalgunj - Jumla - Padmara
In the early morning, you will have breakfast at the hotel and fly to Jumla. The settlement of Jumla (2,340 m) is located in a valley where paddy is produced, making Jumla the highest point on Earth where it is grown. Through pine woodlands, we travel northeast along the Chaudbise Khola's right bank. Urthu (2520m), located at the junction of the Chaudbise and Ghurseni kholas, is another two hours away. The bridge connects the Chaudbise region to the east. The trek now ascends steeply while remaining on the right slope of the Ghurseni Khola's confined gorge. One hour beyond the canyon head is the Chhetri village of Padmara (3017m), located at the head of the valley. Camp for the night.
Padmara - Bumra
On this day, you will start your trek from Padmara and make your way to Bumra. The exact route and duration of the trek will depend on the specific trail you take. You can expect to pass through beautiful landscapes, forests, and perhaps encounter local villages along the way. The distance covered and the time taken will depend on the pace of your trekking group and the trail conditions.
Bumra - Pine
Your journey to Pine will resume after a night in Bumra. Once more, the trail you choose will determine the precise path and duration. As you go to Pine, you can run into a variety of topography and plants. Enjoy the surrounding splendor while keeping an eye out for any potential wildlife.
Pine - Rara lake
You will hike from Pine to the breathtaking Rara Lake on this day. The largest lake in Nepal, Rara Lake, is renowned for its tranquil beauty. You will pass through forests, meadows, and possibly even cross some waterways on your journey. You will be welcomed by Rara Lake's crystal-clear waters and lush green hills as you get closer to it. Take your time to unwind and enjoy the peace of this lovely setting.
The purpose of today is to discover and take in Rara Lake's natural splendor. You can stroll leisurely around the lake, climb to adjacent lookout spots for expansive views, or just unwind at the water's edge. Due to the area's diverse animals and abundant biodiversity, Rara Lake is a great place to spot birds and other wildlife.
Rara lake - Ghorasain
You will start your ascent toward Ghorasain after spending some time at Rara Lake that you will never forget. Your journey will pass through beautiful scenery and perhaps even via little towns where you can see how locals still live today. Depending on the particular terrain chosen and the speed of your trekking party, the length of the journey will vary.
Ghorasain - Sinja
Continuing your trek, you will make your way to Sinja on this day. Sinja is historically significant as it was once the capital of the Khasa Kingdom. As you explore the area, you can stumble upon ancient ruins and stone inscriptions. As you go through this area, the walk will present you with a combination of natural beauty and cultural heritage.
Sinja - Chere Chaur
You'll leave Sinja behind and make your way to Chere Chaur on foot. The chosen trail will determine the precise route and length. You might pass through forests, river valleys, and undulating hills during this portion of the walk. As you go to Chere Chaur, savor the shifting scenery and the sensation of adventure.
Chere Chaur - Jumla
You'll start your trip from Chere Chaur to Jumla on this day. In Nepal's Jumla district is a little village called Chere Chaur. You will pass through stunning scenery on the trekking track, including hills, rivers, and forests. While taking in the tranquil settings, you'll have the chance to fully appreciate the area's natural beauty. The precise length and level of difficulty of the hike will depend on the particular route used and your hiking speed.
Nepalgunj - Kathmandu
After completing the trek from Chere Chaur to Jumla, you will travel to Nepalgunj. Nepalgunj is a city in the southwestern region of Nepal, close to the border with India.ou will take a flight, which usually lasts 30 minutes, from Jumla to Nepalgunj. You will then board a different flight to Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, after reaching Nepalgunj. Usually, the flight from Nepalgunj to Kathmandu takes one hour.
This day is designated as a leisure day in Kathmandu. After the trip and the flights, you will have time to relax and stroll at your own speed through the energetic metropolis of Kathmandu. Kathmandu is renowned for its vibrant marketplaces, historic temples, and rich cultural history. You can go to well-known tourist destinations like Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, or indulge in some local market shopping for traditional goods and mementos.
On the final day of your itinerary, you will depart from Kathmandu. Depending on your flight schedule, you will have some free time in the morning or early afternoon to do any last-minute sightseeing, shopping, or simply relax. You will then head to the airport for your departure from Nepal. Make sure to plan your departure time accordingly and allow sufficient time for check-in and security procedures at the airport.
