One of the secluded and off-the-beaten-path treks, the Limi Valley Trek runs from the Nepal-Tibet border at Hilsa to another Himalayan crossing called Chang-la. West of Nepal (Humla), the country's highest, most northern, and most isolated district, lies tucked away deep into the Himalaya. The Humla Limi Valley is home to a variety of cultural groups, including the Hindu Khasas in the southern valleys and riverbeds and the Bhotias in the northern highlands. As you hike over 16,000-foot mountains, through isolated settlements, and through the vibrant Humla Limi Valley, you will encounter these rich and diverse civilizations.
The trailhead for Humla's Simikot district is where the journey begins. The Limi Valley is reached by following the Limi River upstream from Simikot. A few communities can be found in the valley, which is well-known for its birdwatching.
Forests, meadows, and high passes are just a few of the different types of landscape the walk traverses. The Nara La Pass, which is located at a height of 4,620 meters, is the highest pass on the route.
