This is a trek that is on everyone's bucket list. It is also physically challenging. You are going to walk the Everest Base Camp Trek with a Certified Guide and a Porter if desired. From 3000 meters altitude, no more than 500 meters per day to rise and sometimes planning a rest day. All this so that you acclimatize better! Of course, this itinerary is just a reference and we can deviate several times from our schedule. We will be flexible.
The trek begins with a midnight drive to Ramechhap and flight to Lukla. Walking part of the trek starts In Lukla, a small town located at 2,860 meters (9,380 feet) above sea level. From Lukla, trekkers hike up to Namche Bazaar, the largest town in the Khumbu region. This town is a great place to acclimatize to the altitude and to do some shopping for supplies. After Namche Bazaar, trekkers continue on to Pangboche, Dingboche, Chhukung, Lobuche, Gorak Shep and Kala Patthar. These villages are located at increasingly higher altitudes, which gives trekkers time to adjust to the altitude and to avoid altitude sickness. From Gorakshep, trekkers hike to Everest Base Camp, which is located at 5,364 meters (17,598 feet) above sea level. Then, we retrace back our steps the same route.
Everest Base Camp is a very popular destination, and trekkers will often have to share the space with other trekkers, climbers, and Sherpas. This is a challenging but rewarding experience. It is a great way to see some of the most stunning scenery in the world and to experience the culture and hospitality of the Sherpa people.
Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you will be picked up by our representative at the airport and taken to the hotel. You will meet your guide, discuss the trek program, and make final preparations for the trek. If you have an early arrival, we will take you for a sightseeing trip in the UNESCO world heritage site in Kathmandu and later, in the evening, you’ll have dinner in the hotel.
