The Langtang Trek is a popular trekking route in Nepal, located in the Langtang National Park area, north of Kathmandu. The trek is named after the Langtang Valley, which is surrounded by beautiful mountain peaks and glaciers, including highly technical Mt. Langtang Lirung (7,227m). Mt. Gang Chhenpo (6,388m), and Mt. Dorje Lakpa (6,966m). It is a moderate trek that takes around 7-10 days, however an extra few days or a week if desired. The trek begins in Syabrubesi, a small town about 8 hours drive from Kathmandu, and follows the Langtang River upstream to the Langtang Valley. Along the way, trekkers pass through dense forests of rhododendron and bamboo, traditional Tamang villages, and scenic high-altitude meadows. One of the highlights of the Langtang Trek is Kyanjin Gompa, a Buddhist monastery and village situated at an altitude of 3,900m. From here, trekkers can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding peaks, and can also hike up to Tserko Ri (4,984m) for even better views.
Overall, the Langtang Trek is a great option for trekkers looking for a relatively short and accessible trek that still offers stunning mountain scenery and cultural experiences.
Upon your arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you will be greeted by a representative from the trekking company and transferred to your hotel. You can spend the rest of the day exploring the city and preparing for the trek.
In the morning, you will take a scenic 125 km drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi, the starting point of the trek. The journey takes about 5-6 hours and offers stunning views of the Langtang and Ganesh Himal Range. You will also see the Nepalese countryside and farm lives. We will hike 2 hours to a place called Domen.
The trek begins with a gradual ascent through forests of oak and rhododendron, passing through small villages and crossing several streams. You will reach the village of Lama Hotel by late afternoon, where you will spend the night.
After breakfast we will continue the trek and ascent through forests and cross the Langtang River. You will pass through the small settlements of Ghodatabela and Thangshyapu, before finally reaching Langtang village, where you will spend the night.
It is a moderate hike today and we will gain 400m. The view of the valley opens up just 30 minutes walk from Langtang village. You will reach Kyanjin Gompa, the last settlement, by noon.
Today, you will have a rest day at Kyanjin Gompa to acclimatize to the altitude and explore the area. You can hike to nearby viewpoints, visit the monastery, or simply relax and enjoy the mountain views.
After breakfast on this day, we have a long hike. You will retrace your steps down the valley to Lama Hotel and spend the night there.
The final day of the trek involves a relatively easy downhill walk back to Syabrubesi. You can celebrate the end of the trek with your fellow trekkers and enjoy a well-deserved rest. We can also drive back to Kathmandu on this day if we reach Syafrubeshi earlier.
In the morning, you will take a drive back to Kathmandu, where you can relax and enjoy the rest of your time in Kathmandu. You may get some souvenirs for family and friends in the evening.
If you have an evening departure, you may go for a massage and visit the city and temples and shop for the souvenir. You will be dropped at the airport by our representatives for your onward journey or return back home.
